Know Your Motors!

Are all mixers made equal?

At ABBIEGALES we like to research our products to assure that our customers get the absolute BEST items that are on the market. KitchenAid mixers have different motor sizes and what you pay for is what you get. The size of motor determines the price of your stand mixer.

Where does the difference in price lie?

A larger motor can handle more use and will last in the long run. We included this infographic from KitchenAid which explains the different styles they manufacture. Here lies the difference in price, with a larger mixer (quart size) you also get a larger motor and base. For example, 3.5-quart will have a 3.5-quart bowl and a 250-watt motor this style is the cheaper option and comes with a 1-year warranty with KitchenAid. In comparison, the 5-quart will come with a 5-quart bowl, a 325-watt motor and a 1-year warranty. The 7-quart, 1.3 HP has a 5 year warranty. You’ll also notice a difference design wise, the 3.5-quart model will offer a rushed (lined) stainless steel bowl versus the 5-quart which offers a polished (shiny) stainless steel bowl.

What should I get?

It depends on your needs, if you want a stand mixer for the occasional baker you might want to try the 5-quart or the new mini 3.5-quart mixer. For the more serious baker the 7-quart stand mixer would be an excellent choice.  At the end of the day your mixer will reflect the design of your kitchen and is often a statement piece.

We hope we have been able to provide you with a little insight into the products we carry at ABBIEGALES  and we would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
